Veneshe Master Venetian PlasteringAuthentic Venetian Plastering will transform any room in your home or business into a one of a kind work of art, imparting a sensuality of texture and color that is impossible to achieve with paint. In contrast to faux painting and faux plasters, authentic Venetian plaster is not only beautiful, but also one of the most "Green" eco-friendly wall finishes. Ranging from translucent, high gloss surfaces that resemble polished stone to rustic surfaces that resemble ancient and worn stucco, genuine Italian plastering creates a unique and highly sought-after finish that reflects the artist's technique, vision and mastery of the art form. We invite you to explore our Italian Plastering portfolio to view examples of our work. Veneshe® was established by Lori Blomstrom, a certified Italian Plaster artisan trained in Italy and the United States, to specialize exclusively in applying decorative stucco finishes for discriminating homeowners and interior designers. In addition to our contracting services, we're proud to offer Italian Plaster Training for plaster applicators and homeowners interested in learning the art of Italian Plastering. Venetian Plaster HistoryThe Venetian Plastering technique traces back to the Italian Renaissance, as builders in Venice searched for ways to mimic the visual appeal of marble interiors without the weight, to avoid sinking the building into the mud upon which the city was built. As builders applied thin layers of marble-laden lime plaster to masonry, the steady pressure of the toweling motion created a burnish that made the plaster look and feel like marble, and "stucco veneziano" was born. Today, polished Venetian plaster, or Grassello, is just one of the many Italian Plaster finishes Aged, Slaked Lime: the key ingredient of Venetian PlasterVeneshe uses Firmolux Bericalce imported lime plasters for unsurpassed beauty and durability. The key component of Italian plaster is aged, slaked lime, imported from northern Italy. Local lime is not adequate for this decorative treatment. Aging the slaked lime brings out the reflective and crystallized properties of limestone. The addition of marble dust, organic pigments and other natural ingredients provides us with an endless palette of decorative effects. The result is durable walls with integrated color that, after curing, have hardened back into stone. Veneshe carries the full line of Firmolux Venetian plasters, available to trained applicators--contact us for details Venetian Plaster Applicator TechniqueWhile DIY programs and superstores have popularized the application of faux plasters, these finishes are more like paint, and look, smell and feel like the artificial ingredients with which they are made. Nothing compares to genuine Italian plaster. However, authentic Venetian plaster is not a technique to be attempted by the novice. It requires careful surface preparation, mastery of specific tools, and trained application of materials to achieve the desired effect. To learn more about how to master this art form, consider one of our plaster applicator training classes.
