Old World Artistry Decorative Art Workshops

Veneshe returns to Bethlehem's Banana Factory arts center with Holly Fields-Scott of Bella Pintura this winter!

Join decorative artists Holly Fields-Scott and Lori Blomstrom for hands-on sessions that will teach you how to transform ordinary surfaces in your home into works of art using natural materials and designer application techniques. Classes at the famed Banana Factory Community Arts Center are a fun way to try new techniques, "get your feet wet" and make new friends! Fans of popular programs like HGTV will gain the confidence to try unique old world and modern finishes that add drama, value and your own personality to your home environment.

All classes cover surface preparation, color and how to use natural materials over commercially available synthetics.A $75 materials fee is included. Class size limited to 10 students per session.

Italian Plaster Techniques

In this class, students learn six fiinishes, including 3 popular Italian plaster techniques using all-natural and imported plasters from Italy: a polished Venetian plaster finish, a rustic Tuscan finish, and a classic Italian plaster finish. Students are also taught some unique variations using stencils and lime paint.

Decorative Painting Techniques

In this class, students learn glazing techniques and pull-off applications that enable them to create six exquisite finishes, as seen in designer show houses in Bucks County and Princeton. Finishes include linen, strie, leather, suede and specialty glaze effects.

Moldings and Columns

Moldings and columns can be the crowning touch to a designer decor. Students will learn how to create three treatments that elevate moldings and wood trim to a new level of design, including washed wood, antiquing and plastering. Students will also learn a basic marbling technique for columns and ideas for creating a free standing column if you're not lucky enough to already have them as architectural elements in your home!
